Mission Statement

We are committed to bringing brain injury survivors and their familes out of isoalation by providing support services and resources to include the following:

Peer Support and Social Network Support

We offer survivor-led monthly group meetings, activities and community networks. All are welcome.

We believe peer connection and collaboration is a major component in the on-going healing process.

In Fall, 2012, we will re-instate our Family and Friends Support meetings and resources led by the family member of a brain injury survivor.

Brain injury recovery information

We encourage brain injury prevention, brain and general health education and other topics to include financial help, social security, legal issues, in-home services and advocacy programs.

We sponsor:

  • Survivor led workshops
  • Informational meetings with outside speakers
  • Special interest classes
  • Public forums and presentations
  • Web site

Referrals

Our goal is to link members with community support networks.

Resource Development

Survivors are our greatest resource. Cognitive, memory, language, communication, skill building and assistive tools programs serve to empower survivors to regain their self confidence and rebuild their lives.

Description

BIRRDSong is a peer-led community of brain injury survivors, family members, friends students, professionals and other support persons, brain injury networks and affiliate partner organizations.

Our support meetings, workshops, and classes are held at Good Samaritan Hospital at 1022 NW 2nd Ave. in Portland, OR.
