Mission Statement

The mission of the Augusta CASA Program is provide screened, trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in juvenile court.

Description

Every year in the Augusta area, hundreds of children are removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect. These children then become a part of a overburdened child welfare system where they can get "lost" for months and even years. The Augusta CASA Program provides an innovative, cost effective approach to this crisis. As a pf the Shelter and Advocacy Center for Abused Children, CASA is a community-based program that recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers to serve as advocates for abused an neglected children. CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to be an independent source of information to help ensure that children have safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
