Mission Statement
We are a no-kill cat shelter and advocacy group dedicated to ending feline overpopulation in our area. Our purpose is to help owned and unowned cats in our area by facilitating high quality, high volume, low cost spay/neuter services; helping caregivers humanely manage feral cats, and finding adoptive homes for cats in need through our cageless, no-kill adoption program.

Since 2008, Illinois Valley Cat Taxi has spayed or neutered nearly 2,000 cats. We know that sterilizing both owned and free roaming community cats is essential to creating a no-kill community, but resources for affordable sterilization in our rural area are scarce. Therefore, we are currently transporting approximately 100 cats each month into Chicago, where high-quality low-cost clinics exist, for spay/neuter.
As part of our mission to improve the lives of cats, we operate a Trap-Neuter-Return program to curb the population of free-roaming community cats. From these colonies we rescue kittens and friendly adults and find loving homes for them through our no-kill adoption program.
IL Valley Cat Taxi also operates a very successful barn cat program, rescuing feral cats from animal control facilities where they would otherwise be euthanized, spaying or neutering them, and then relocating them to farms where they act as working cats, keeping facilities free of rodents.
