Description

The agency began in 1963 as a grass-roots help program for the mentally ill. Over the past 40 years it has expanded to include help to all kinds of services.

The agency was the first in Florida and 7th in the nation to adopt the national abbreviated dialing code 2-1-1 and changed the name to 2-1-1 Brevard, Inc. in 2001.

Our Sunshine Service provides regular telephone calls to the elderly or disabled people who would benefit from a routine reassurance call.

2-1-1 Brevard is also the lead agency for Brevard County's HMIS (Homeless Management Informtion System). Initiative of HUD, HMIS is a web-based client and case management system used by local agencies to provide services for homeless individuals and families.

2-1-1 Brevard's Community Training and Education are provided for health and human services workers and volunteers, faith-based groups and others interested in expanding their knowledge and skills in the areas of suicide risk assessment and intervention, crisis intervention and active listening.
