Mission Statement

The Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities of Hawaiʻi. Our mission is to provide students with experiences that will enhance their appreciation for and understanding of their environment so they will be lifelong stewards of the earth. We support hands-on learning activities that engage their senses and make lasting impressions on children’s minds. We believe our keiki are the seeds of change to preserving and protecting our beautiful islands.

Description

Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation's programs support public, charter, and private schools throughout the state of Hawaiʻi in meeting their environmental education goals.

Our ʻĀINA In Schools, Plastic Free Hawaiʻi, and 3R's School Recycling programs focus on schools on Oʻahu and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation's Field Trip Grants and Program Grants are available to Hawaiʻi schools state-wide, however there are many resources, curricula, workshops and trainings available for students and educators everywhere.

Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation’s new home is 8 acres of land in the heart of Haleʻiwa on the North Shore of Oʻahu. Our vision is to establish agricultural, educational, and retail activities that benefit the community and promote local food, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship. The property will house the Kōkua Community Center, the Kōkua Learning Farm and three mission-aligned businesses, the Kōkua General Store, Kōkua Vintage and the ʻĀINA Farm Stand. Mahalo to all the volunteers, businesses and community partners who are supporting us in making this vision come to life! Learn more by watching the short 2 minute video below:
