The Area Agency on Aging provides many services. These include the following: Senior Community Centers-meals, activities, and wellness programs; Assesment of Needs and Support Services-Care Management to proivde for a care plan of services;Nursing Home Alternatives-PDA Waiver Program and the Bridge Program; Family Caregiver Support Program-assistance to reduce stress for caregiver to enable the care recipient to remain at home; Adult Foster Care-The Domiciliary Care Program-which alows persons requiring only minimal care to receive it in home settings for a monthly fee;Protection from Abuse and neglect-Protective Services are available to investigate reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation and they have the power to remove from immediate risk of harm;Advocacy for Long Term Care Consumers-The Ombudsman Program assists people in resolving problems and concerns in residential facilities, including Adult Day Care; Training and Employment-The Senior Training and Employment Program offers work experience and training opportunities to those , age 55 and older who meet income guidelines;and Health Insurance Counseling-Apprise volunteers are specially trained to offer consumer education about Medicare, HMOs, Supplemental Insurance, Medicaid, and Long Term Care Insurance benefits for free ina confidential setting.
