Mission Statement

Nukanti Foundation for Children is an independent international non-profit organization, devoted to investing in education, healing and hope for children, particularly in communities devastated by violence, poverty and armed conflict.

Description

Our mission is to transform young people's lives through education and hope - with a concentration on regions affected by extreme violence and poverty by focusing on the following objectives:

  • Promote the reintegration and inclusion of children who have been excluded, marginalized and traumatized by extreme violence and are vulnerable to recruitment by armed forces.
  • Assure their attendance and performance in school.
  • Build leadership skills and community responsibilities.
  • Keep children away from gangs, drugs and arms by offering them an alternative.
We endeavor to provide an inspirational educational experience for young students living amid an uncertain environment. In doing so, we introduce hope into their lives, igniting their passions and interest in learning, instilling confidence, and equipping them with the tools to take charge and improve their own lives. NFC works to break cycles of violence, hatred and despair by providing psychological, emotional and educational support to those affected by conflict. NFC focuses its activities on children and young people, who have the greatest capacity to transcend the conflicts of their communities and to bring about change in the future. Children are increasingly amongst the most vulnerable in conflict situations. NFC works to create places of safety where trained workers can provide a climate of support and befriending tailored to the needs of young people and their communities.
