Mission Statement

Embrace is a non profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of low-income residents through the development of carefully tailored resident services programs. Embrace programs are designed to address the evolving needs of residents. By striving to expand an individual’s opportunity within a community setting, Embrace encourages residents to take pride in themselves and the community in which they live. This sense of pride and belonging reinforces the bonds residents feel for one another and ultimately, creates a safer, happier, and stronger residential community.

Description

At Ten Fifty B Street we feel it is important to offer an alternative to children coming home to an empty house. Our Homework Club offers a unique opportunity for resident children to visit a safe and secure environment for a healthy snack, help with schoolwork, and an opportunity for socialization and mentorship. Our Afterschool Homework Club provides four critical components: structure, time, attention and space. Each of these components has proven instrumental in improving students’ performance (including attendance, grades, social behavior, and participation in extracurricular activities. In addition, the homework club will help keep children off the streets, safe and out of trouble.
