Mission Statement

The Hydrocephalus Association's mission is to eliminate the challenges of hydrocephalus by stimulating innovative research and providing support, education and advocacy for individuals, families and professionals dealing with hydrocephalus.

More than one million Americans deal with the challenges of hydrocephalus every day. One of the most common treatment methods, surgically implanting a shunt in the brain, was developed in the 1950s ?]?] with little improvement since then. Unfortunately, a shunt is not a cure!

With your help we work to ensure families have access with the most current educational materials, research and quality health care. We work to advocate for increased research and funding to advance understanding of hydrocephalus, improve diagnosis and treatment and ultimately, to find a cure.

Description

Join the hydrocephalus community in your area as we band together to fund crucial hydrocephalus research and program services. In 2010 HA volunteers exceeded their goals ?] over 8,000 people participated in 25 HA WALKs across the U.S., raising more than $730,000! HA’s target for 2011 is 9,000 walkers raising $830,000 - and with the continued support of people like you we will achieve that goal. Because all HA WALKs are volunteer?]driven, they are very cost effective, which maximizes the amount of funding available for HA’s mission: to eliminate the challenges of hydrocephalus.
