Mission Statement

To provide aid, comfort and relief to abandoned or suffering animals in Polk County, Florida and to place surrendered pets in safe and loving lifetime homes. Our primary focus is to reduce pet overpopulation and indiscriminate breeding, to eliminate the euthanasia of thousands of unwanted pets annually.

Description

We are a non-profit Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals founded in Polk County, Florida in 1979. Our Lakeland shelter has been aiding and adopting homeless animals to qualified homes dince 1991. The goal of our low cost spay/neuter clinic, which opened in 2001, is to reduce the thousands of animals coming into Polk County shelters by 47% within the next five to ten years. Our shelter recieves no funding from national organizations, United Way, the state or federal government. We rely on private donations, memberships and bequests.
