Mission Statement
End Hunger Network strives to end hunger in the greater Houston area by providing donated food to partner agencies dedicated to serving Houston's poor and hungry. We remove the roadblocks - lack of transportation, marketing and knowledge - that prevent our community from using available food resources.
Description
Programs include: Food Loop, the only food rescue program in Houston. Food Loop recovers surplus perishable foods donated by food-industry businesses and delivers it to emergency shelters, soup kitchens, and food pantries on the front-line, feeding hungry people. The Red Barrel program meets the critical need for food supplies at local food pantries. Our red Barrels are placed in grocery stores across the city for consumers to fill with purchased and donated nonperishable foods. Each barrel is assigned to a neighborhood pantr whose staff and volunteers collect and distribute the food. Operating in nearly 250 grocery stores, the Red Barrel is a convenient way to donate food 365 days a year.
