Description

'Beverly Community Playschool' was opened by local volunteers and parishioners of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in June of 1972. The school's primary purpose was to provide a free educational opportunity for children with special learning needs. In 1973, the program was incorporated as a private, non-profit organization, with the additional role of providing the parents of the children enrolled with specific training and support.

In 1975, with Chapter 766 funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the school opened five days a week, added transportation and meal services, started a family day care component, hired paid staff, and adopted a new name 'Beverly Preschool Learning Center.' In 1988, the school age child care program was started with funding from the city of Beverly's Community Development Office. Our current name 'Beverly Children's Learning Center, Inc.' was assumed in 1989 to better reflect the range of ages and comprehensive services provided.
