Rock For Kids is a non-profit organization that provides support, assistance and inspiration to young people who are homeless or in need. Committed to the dignity of children, Rock For Kids works directly with families and organizations to positively impact and celebrate young lives. RFKâ s expanded mission is a direct parallel to the escalating needs of these children and the shelters, which house them. With a desire to extend the spirit of the holiday season throughout the year, RFK is committed to support its beneficiaries in the form of program needs, staffing, equipment, school supplies and other quality of life elements easily taken for granted. The personalized nature of RFKâ s gift giving supports the facilities efforts to communicate a message of dignity and personal empowerment to the children and women they serve.
Rock For Kids Programs Youth Jam â RFKâ s newest program brings music education to homeless children. Through free music lessons RFK hopes to improve the self-esteem and confidence of the students. Classes are held twice weekly at four locations. Personalized Gift Shopping - RFKâ s first responded to the facilities by developing this program, which remains the heart of RFK. With assistance of facility staff, each child fills out a holiday wishlist. Armed with these lists volunteers shop diligently, assuring each child will receive gifts that they requested. Parentâ s Shopping Program - Parents are given the opportunity to utilize independent living skills - comparing prices, budget preparation, decision making - integral to survival. Even more vital is the sense of pride each Parent feels in making gift selections for her own children.
