Mission Statement

Dacula Academy, an early childhood educational facility, is committed to education that supports young children ranging in the ages of 6 weeks to 13 years of age. By focusing on the needs of the whole child, we offer a program that promotes developmentally appropriate learning based on the social, cognitive, emotional and physical skills of the child. Our goal is to work with young children and their families in our community by providing a nurturing environment, which is essential for elementary school readiness. We will assist in developing a child's unique qualities while supporting familes through strong partnerships.

WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN CHILDCARE!

Description

Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, the Georgia's Pre-K division at Bright from the Start awarded Transition Coach Grants to eligible Georgia Pre-K programs. Dacula Academy was ONE of only FOUR Georgia Pre-K Providers in Gwinnett County to receive the grant!

The Transition Coaches will work with students, families, schools and communities to help young children move from one school setting to another. Appropriate language and literacy development is an important component for effective transition.

My name is Ashley Thomas and I am the Transition Coach at Dacula Academy. In addition to serving the children and families at Dacula Academy, I will also be serving the childcare centers and elementary schools in the local area. Throughout the school year, I will be hosting various events (literacy fairs, kindergarten readiness workshops, Pre-K curriculum workshops) in the community with the help of local childcare centers, elementary schools, and businesses. For these events to be successful, I will need several volunteers!
