Mission Statement

Coney Island Prep's mission is straightforward: to prepare every student to succeed in the college and career of their choice. We currently serve 360 scholars in grades 5 -8, and will add a new grade every year until we serve students in grades 5-12.

We recognize that preparing, students to succeed in the college and career of their choice is not easy, but we have developed an educational program, founded on high expectations for academic achievement and behavior, that will help our scholars achieve that success.

Description

Our program includes an extended school day and year during which students are exposed to a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that ensures students gain mastery of fundamental skills and content necessary for success in college and the career of their choice.

In addition:

The school fosters a positive, achievement-oriented school culture aimed at ensuring that our students internalize the school’s key PRIDE values critical to their long-term success. PRIDE stands for professionalism, respect, integrity, determination, and excellence.

The academic program is supported by a strictly enforced, school-wide disciplinary system that holds students to high behavioral expectations.

Students receive targeted, individualized tutoring and academic support throughout the week.

Coney Island Prep embraces a data-driven approach to instruction and to all decision-making.
