Food Bank of Corpus Christi

Description

An independant, nonprofit organization that solicits and distributes food that might otherwise go to waste or be discarded by manufacturers, wholesalers or retailers. Since 1982, the Food Bank of Corpus Christi has been fighting hunger in the Texas Coastal Bend by providing food and personal care items to various charity and service agencies in an 11 county area. We are particularly proud of several innovative programs that have allowed us to reach individuals previously unserved in South Texas: Kids Cafe (the only area feeding program exclusively for children), diabetes management classes, rural delivery of perishables and formula for children with special medical needs. We estimate that 13,000 people eat food from the Food Bank on a daily basis.
