Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
To advance the lives of persons with physical disabilities and their families through sport and leisure activities.
Our organization provides a variety of programs for people (of all ages) with physical disabilities, many of them are seasonal. Some of our teams include Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby and Goalball (a sport for people with visual impairments). We also offer cycling, tennis, bowling, archery and more.
Some of our one-time events include Bike Ride Across Georgia (BRAG), participation in ESi Ironman Relay teams and our Adaptive Golf Challenge, among others.
Though we generally do not serve people with intellectual disabilities, we do host an annual Adaptive Water Skiing event that welcomes those with both physical and intellectual disabilities.
We work to ensure our programs are integrated with the community as often as possible, and we have partnerships with other like-minded organizations to help ensure people with physical disabilities have as equal an opportunity to be active and social as those without a disability.
We are also a Paralympic Sport Club. We work closely with Fort Gordon and the Warrior Transition Battalion, and receive a large portion of our funding from the U.S. Paralympics via Veterans Affairs and DoD initiatives.
.... However, we understand not everyone will be a Paralympian, which is why our focus is simply on having fun with friends and staying active.
