Mission Statement

The mission of the Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is to provide:

  • engaging hands-on environmental and natural science education for all ages;
  • biodiversity of native plants and animals through wise management of our natural resources;
  • understanding that all Earth?s inhabitants are part of complex, interdependent ecosystems, and;
  • opportunities for quiet reflection and reconnection with the natural world.

Description

Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary is a private, non-profit organization where native plants and animals thrive and people learn about and appreciate the natural world. Each year, the Sanctuary hosts thousands from the Kansas City area.

When you arrive, walk along a trail, visit the nature center, sit back and watch the birds at our bird feeding stations, or participate in one of our programs specifically designed with you in mind!
