Mission Statement

Poverty Services of Catholic Charities of Southern Illinois has a mission to "break the cycle of poverty one person at a time." This core social justice mission focuses on raising the awareness of poverty in our communities and seeking volunteers to help break the cycle. We strive to help the poor and needy "learn to fish for themselves."

CCSI reaches out in Christian love to the people of Southern IL, to provide for their basic needs, and to foster changes in self and in society that promote justice and human dignity.
