Mission Statement

The mission of the Migraine Research Foundation is to end the debilitating pain of migraine by funding research into its causes and treatments.

Description

MRF is the only nonprofit whose sole purpose is to fund research into the causes of migraine, working to alleviate the suffering caused by this disabling disease that amazingly, affects more than 1 in 4 families in the U.S. alone: 36 million people, including 10% of all school-age kids. 2 out of 3 sufferers are women. Employers lose $13 billion a year in lost work days. Every 10 seconds, someone goes to the emergency room with a migraine or a headache. In spite of the prevalence of Migraine and its serious social and economic consequences, research into its causes and treatments is severely under-funded. Astonishingly, we still don't know what causes it. We give out research grants for work on the bold and innovative areas that hold great promise for understanding the science. All our operating costs are underwritten, so all money raised goes directly to the researchers in the quest to discover better treatments, and ultimately, a cure.
