SEVA Booster Club

Description

The SEVA Booster Club, founded in 2000, works closely with the SEVA (South Eastern Virginia Aquatics) youth swim team. The SEVA team currently consists of 180+ youth swimmers, ranging in age from 6 to 18. The team offers practice opportunities 7 days a week, coached by professional swimming coaches. SEVA's swimmers compete in monthly competitions at the local, state and national level. Over 300 SEVA/FTE swimmers have advanced to swim at the NCAA college levels, offering them opportunities that would not otherwise be realized. As with many youth sports, competitive swimming is an expensive one, with costly membership dues and travel expenses. In addition to organizational support to the team, the SEVA Booster Club offers financial support to Hampton Roads families whose children are on the SEVA team. The primary means of raising funds is by staffing and working Bingo games at area Bingo Halls. These games are professionally run and managed by SEVA volunteers and are very profitable. Running the Bingo sessions is also very labor-intensive and, on an annual basis, requires tens of thousands of man-hours.
