Mission Statement
The Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center (CMCRC), is located at Howard County General Hospital, a Member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. The Center's is a remarkable place of guidance and hope for men, women and children affected by cancer. The Center's mission is to assist men, women and children with cancer and their caregivers through counseling, stress and symptom management, health system navigation, education, aesthetic / wellness services and resource identification.
Description
The Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center is a truly unique facility serving Howard County and the Central Maryland area. The goal is to "Provide the highest quality care to improve the health of our entire community through innovation, collaboration, service excellence, diversity and a commitment to patient safety" is carried through in all that we do.
The Center has 2 full service Salons, a large Cancer Resource Library that is connected to the Howard County Public Library System, offers free Counseling, Prothestic fittings, massage therapy and accupuncture. The comforting and welcoming setting is conveniently located in the same building as the two largest oncology practices in the County.
The Howard Hospital Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center. The Foundation holds several fundraisers per year to support the operating costs of the Center.
As one patient expressed: "The Center gave me support and hope. They walked with me through my cancer diagnosis and treatments, so that I would not have to walk alone."
