Mission Statement

Central Susquehanna Sight Services (CSSS) provides residents who are blind or visually impaired with the supportive programs and services needed to live fulfilling and self-sufficient lives in their own homes. Our vision screening and educational programs proactively target the approximately 50% of blindness that is preventable through early detection of vision problems and education on eye health and safety.

Description

Central Susquehanna Sight Services (CSSS) has been providing education and screenings for the prevention of blindness and supportive services and workshop employment for the blind and visually impaired for over 60 years. Formerly known as the Lower Susquehanna Branch of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind, CSSS provides services to residents of Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union Counties in Central Pennsylvania. In 2009, we provided services for 5,069 people. As a member of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind, we are currently the only agency in the area that specifically serves the blind or visually impaired.
