Description

The Escape of Fort Atkinson strives to serve the educational, social, recreational and spiritual needs of Jefferson County area teens by providing a safe place to call their own. By providing various types of programming, the center will reach out to teens providing them with a space for creativity, homework assistance growth and leadership opportunities. All programs offered at the Escape are free and open to all.

Our Programs for Middle School

  • Open from 3PM-6PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Free tutoring and homework help (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in a dedicated tutoring center managed by a licensed teacher
  • Free dinner on Fridays
  • Tournament Club on Fridays
  • Daily games and activities
  • 1 hour daily reprieve from electronics (no video games, cell phones or other electronics from 3PM-4PM except for internet-related homework needs)

Our Programs for High School

  • Open from 6PM-9PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; 6PM-10PM on Fridays
  • Free tutoring and homework help (by appointment) in a dedicated tutoring center managed by a licensed teacher
  • Free dinner on Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Junior Staff leadership program (2 leadership retreats a year and students participate in 1-3 volunteer opportunities per month)
  • Daily games and activities
  • Nightly games of dodgeball (last hour of programming)

Our Program Expansion for 2011

Due to a generous grant from the Siebert Foundation and an anonymous Foundation, the Escape will be expanding to offer the following programs:

  • Middle School Activity based classes (4-6 week classes on a specific topic such as art, music, crafts or sports)
  • Monthly offsite trips for both Middle School and High School (there will be fees associated with these trips, however, a limited number of free/reduced spots are available to those who qualify)
  • High School College Prep and Career Exploration (monthly events to help teens and families prepare for the transition to post-high school options)
