The South Salt Lake Victim Assistance Program is dedicated to providing a comprehensive response to victims of violent crime. The partnership we have with our community enhances our ability to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, information & referral, and court advocacy to the residents of South Salt Lake and to those who have been a victim of crime while in South Salt Lake. We are committed to improving the treatment of victims while going through the criminal justice process.
The Victim Assistance Program for the City of South Salt Lake is law enforcement based. It was developed in September, 1999, for the purpose of assisting victims of violent crime and responding to their immediate needs. The range of victim services provided includes crisis intervention, information & referral for community resources, information regarding the crimminal justice process, referrals to professional counseling centers and educational programs, and court advocacy. The emotional support and information provided to victims allows them the opportunity to become informed and aware of thier options and rights. This program has been designed specifically to assist victims of crime such as Domestic Violence, Sexual Assaults, Homicide, Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Stalking, Robbery, Assaults, ect... A Victim Advocate is available to provide an immediate response to victim of crime 24hours a day , 365 days a year.
