CETF provides leadership statewide to close the "Digital Divide" by accelerating the deployment and adoption of broadband to unserved and underserved communities and populations.
Description
Digital Inlcusion is essential to addressing disparities across the spectrum including econominc, education, civic participation and helath divides.
The California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) works to close the Digital Divide in California by addresseing the "5 As" of Digital Inclusion:
ACCESS: The infrastructure neccessary to reach every Californian with highspeed Internet.
APPLICATIONS: The content online that is of interest and use to understerved communities as well as the ability to use that content to improve their lives.
AFFORDABILITY: The total cost of being connected including the price of the connection, devices, maintainance, training and support required to stay connected as technology evolves.
ACCESSIBILITY: The ease of use that people with disabilities have when using the equipment and services needed to access the Internet.
ASSISTANCE: The technical support and training for providers that are essential for connecting all of California.
