Mission Statement

Tri-Valley Animal Rescue, Inc. (TVAR) is a non-profit charitable organization run solely by volunteers dedicated to placing homeless animals. TVAR is the only authorized group for the East County Animal Shelter (ECAS, formerly known as the Santa Rita Animal Shelter). Through the committment of our volunteers, TVAR works to ensure services such as: rescuing adoptable and/or treatable animals at risk at the ECAS and placing them in our foster program; providing volunteers at the ECAS by interfacing with the general public and helping with animal care; providing low cost spay/neuter programs; educating the public about spaying/neutering and responsible pet ownership; administering vaccinations to shelter animals; securing donations and contributions; and matching suitable, responsible new owners with the animals through adoption events.

Description

TVAR was formed April 4, 1992, with the following primary objectives and purposes: to encourage kindness and understanding of human beings towards animals; to educate the public on responsible pet ownership and the need to alter all adult domestic pets; to acquire from any source unwanted domestic pet animals, and place these animals in suitable homes so that they may not be needlessly destroyed or sold for animal experimentation; to work in cooperation with area shelters, humane organizations, the S.P.C.A., and other groups interested in animal rescue; and to work towards establishing a low cost spay/neuter clinic in the Livermore-Pleasanton-Dublin area.
