Mission Statement
Stop Children's Cancer, Inc. is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to the prevention, control and cure of childhood cancers through funding of pediatric research. All funding goes toward supporting clinical trials at the Divisions of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Description
Stop Children’s Cancer was founded in 1981, by a 10- year old girl, named Bonnie, diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL.
Her vision was to raise research money to help other children and their families, so they would have a better future. Bonnie passed away in 1983 at the age of 12.
To date, Stop Children’s Cancer, a 501(C)(3), has raised over $8 million dollars. In 2008, Stop Children’s Cancer Medical Advisory Board suggested changing direction by supporting Clinical Trials. Begining in 2010, Stop Children's Cancer committed to $1,000,000 over 7 years, and in 2018 an additional $1,000,000 over 5 years to Clinical Trials and Osteosarcoma research.
Stop Children's Cancer is able to provide this funding, in part, due to successful events organized and supported by many volunteers. We hope you will consider volunteering with us!!!
