Mission Statement

To develop strong grassroots environmental leadership and bring together diverse constituencies to work cooperatively for changes that improve their lives, focused on health, consumer, environmental and community problems.

Description

Clean Water Fund (CWF) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1974 by a co-author of the Clean Water Act to protect and restore water quality. CWF research, technical assistance, training, outreach, and educational programs increase public understanding of environmental issues and promote environmentally sound policies.

In California, CWF has campaigned to make water utilities and public agencies more accountable and has worked to reform state and local policies on a broad range of environmental and public health issues, including protecting the safety of our drinking water, combating the plastic debris that pollutes the Bay and ocean, and reducing bioaccumulative contaminants like mercury in San Francisco Bay and Delta.
