Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The Society of Arts and Crafts, incorporated in 1897, has been at the forefront of the American craft movement, fostering the development, sales, recognition and education of crafts for over 100 years. Our highly-committed founders developed standards of excellence in design and technical mastery for crafts that inspired the American Arts and Crafts movement. The mission of The Society of Arts and Crafts is to support excellence in craft by encouraging the creation, collection, and conservation of the work of craft artists and by educating and promoting public appreciation of fine craftsmanship. To fulfill our mission, The Society sponsors exhibitions, the Excellence in Crafts Award Programs, CRAFTBOSTON and educational programming. We also promote the work of over 300 craft artists in our retail gallery on an ongoing basis. All proceeds from sales support American craft through grants to artists, education, and outreach.
The Society of Arts and Crafts is pleased to announce CRAFTBOSTON, an inaugural exhibition and sale of contemporary craft featuring 145 studio artists showing one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces in basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art and wood. CRAFTBOSTON will bring together the finest professional artists working in craft today, emerging artists from leading schools and universities, book sellers, non-profit craft organizations and educational lectures. CRAFTBOSTON will run from May 16-19, 2002 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston's Back Bay.
