Mission Statement

The Iowa Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program commissions trained community volunteers to serve as an effective voice in court for abused and neglected children, strengthening efforts to ensure that each child is living in a safe, permanent and nurturing home.

The Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) empowers the citizens of Iowa to review cases, collect data, and recommend changes to promote the safety and permanency children who have been removed from the homes of their families.

Description

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a very special person who genuinely cares about children having a loving and caring home. The volunteer must not be afraid to "Speak Up" for these special children! Volunteers are assigned to one family at a time and serve as an extra set of eyes and ears for the Juvenile Court. The CASA Program is available in the following NE Iowa Counties: Allamakee, Chickasaw, Howard, Winneshiek. These programs are serviced through Iowa Child Advocacy Board office in Lansing.

There are two Foster Care Review Boards (FCRB) in this area to review the cases of children who are in out-of-home placements. Seven volunteer members serve on each board and attend monthly meetings as scheduled. The Review Boards make findings and recommendations to the Juvenile Court regarding each child who is reviewed.
