Do you like to talk to companies orpharmaceuticals about ways they can make an impact locally?We need help finding sponsors for many of our programs and events. We have our 9th Annual Purple Ribbon Awards planned for March 14th and are forming a Sponsorship Committee to help us find sponsors! We are looking for people who are comfortable reaching out to local business to discuss our sponsors opportunities. We will have a board member and staff ready to help you! It would be an added benefit if you have a tie to lupus and are ready to talk about the importance of the Lupus Foundation of Northern California in patients lives. Thank you!

Do you love reaching out to local businesses to find ways they can help a good cause? Have you successfully found auction items for a non-profit or local school and want to put your experience to good use? We need your help! The Lupus Foundation of Northern California hosts an annual Gala as one of our largest fundraiser. We are currently looking for talented, enthusiastic committee members to help with securing items for our live and silent auctions, recruiting sponsors or help with data entry and photographing items! The Gala will be held on March 14, 2024. We would like to start reaching out for auction items as soon as possible. Other areas where we will need help are also listed. Let us know which area you are most suited to help! Item Procurement: As a Auction Committee Member, you will have the exciting responsibility of gathering an impressive array of auction items. You will reach out to local businesses, donors, and supporters to secure a diverse and enticing selection of items that will captivate our gala attendees. Experience Procurement: As a Live Auction Committee Member you will have the exciting responsibility of gathering an impressive array of Experiences for our Live Auction. You will reach out to local businesses, donors, and supporters to secure a small but exciting One of a Kind selection of items that will captivate our gala attendees Auction Data Entry : As an Auction Committee Member you will help us enter the donations and donors into our Auction Platform. You may also be asked to help with bundling donated items into packages/lots, and photographing items. You may also be asked to help prepare bidding materials, ie; uploading auction packages to a mobile platform). (can be done virtually). On site Auction Coordinator- Join us the night of the event to help manage online and mobile bidding through text message alerts, and track the sales at the event. After the auction is finished you may also help arrange items for an easy pickup by the bidder. Time Commitment: We will have one virtual meeting to get to know you and give guidance about the area chosen. Each volunteer area will have different time commitments which will be discussed during the meeting. Let us know which area you are interested and most suited to volunteer!

EXPECTATIONS OF BOARD MEMBERS As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for: determining the mission and purposes of the organization selecting and evaluating the performance of the CEO/executive director strategic and organizational planning ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management fundraising and resource development approving and monitoring LFNC’s programs and services enhancing LFNC’s public image assessing its own performance as the governing body of LFNC Each individual board member is expected to: know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission give a meaningful personal financial donation with a goal to raise or donate at least $5000 help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and can influence public policy prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings (minimum of 75% attendance) participate fully in one or more committees attend major fundraising events (Gala and 5K)

With a mission to improve lives impacted by lupus, the Lupus Foundation of Northern California has served the lupus community for more than 45 years. Dedicated to serving an ethnically and economically diverse population and to providing the widest possible access to services, the Lupus Foundation of Northern California offers programs designed to meet both social and educational needs of patients and their families in English and Spanish, both in-person and online. Focused on those living with lupus as well as on research and advocacy to find a cure, we are proud to be the voice of the northern California lupus community of patients, families, friends and caregivers. Our Mission is to be a premier source of information on lupus by providing programs and services designed to educate and increase the knowledge of those affected by lupus, promote lupus awareness, and support external lupus research efforts. Do you have a family member who has lupus or an Auto-Immune disease or are you looking for a way to make a difference in people lives? We can use your help! We are looking for assistance in researching and writing grant proposals to provide additional funding sources to sustain our programs. The Lupus Foundation of Northern California is currently looking for a Grant Writer/Editor to help prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to local hospitals, foundations, corporations and pharmaceuticals. This will include working closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to help find and complete grants. Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours per month. Please note we ask for a 6 month commitment. Feel free to send along writing samples and a resume if available.
