Mission Statement

It is the mission of Laclede County Association for Retarded Citizens (LARC) to implement and promote programs and services of the highest quality that assist individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities to develop skills and to access appropriate community supports and resources in order to achieve their desired potential level in vocational and personal pursuits while living with dignity as contributing members of society.

Description

LARC focuses on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of our consumers. Services include

  • training in daily living and communication skills,
  • leisure and recreational activities to enhance mobility and promote good health,
  • behavior modification techniques to curb inappropriate behaviors, and
  • the supervised use of community resources to increase self-sufficiency.

Our staff utilizes methods, materials and settings that are age-appropriate, culturally inclusive, and take into account the developmental levels of each individual in the program.
