The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is a unique, urban-based medical system of research, patient care and education, dedicated to the prevention, early detection, treatment and eventual eradication of cancer. The Institute brings together a unique partnership of community leadership, Michigan Cancer Foundation, Meyer L. Prentis Comprehensive Cancer Center of Metropolitan Detroit, Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center. I don't remember the exact date, but the last time we volunteered with the Karmanos organization, it went very well. Everyone who is a part of the program cares a lot about their work. And most of the volunteers are the same. Give the Race for a Cure in Detroit a try this year, you will have a lot of fun, and bring a spouse or a buddy if it is your first time. They always welcome groups!
