Coalition for Refugees from Burma (CRB) promotes the self-sufficiency of all resettled refugees and immigrants by helping them access services and educational opportunities, while preserving traditional customs. CRB is committed to building community capacity, working towards educational equity, and increasing access to high quality education for all refugee families in the greater Puget Sound Region of Washington.
We believe that we must intentionally address community needs while incorporating community voices in the design and implementation of our programs. Based on a framework of social-justice, rather than social-service, and strengths rather than deficits, we aim to create a model of community driven systems change that engages all stakeholders (youth, families, communities, schools, service providers, government, etc.) in a coordinated manner to collectively dismantle inequities.
