Mission Statement

Shin Shin Educational Foundation provides resources, long term care, love and services to construct or renovate elementary schools in the remote, rural and despondent regions of China. Our objective is to improve their learning environment, and therefore to reduce the disparity in the quality of education between metropolitan and rural areas in China.

Description

Shin Shin means prosperous and is named after an old Chinese motto:"A group effort will bring prosperity." We also believe in another Chinese motto: "It takes ten years to grow a tree, and a hundred years to foster a talent". Every existence shall leave a trace behind; every diligent effort shall have an influence. We sincerely hope that our effort is only the beginning, and that it will inspire others to join our mission to enhance the education for underprivileged children. With education, the children, their next generation, and all the generations beyond will have a better life.

Shin Shin Educational Foundation is like a family to me. I have been volunteering for Shin Shin since 2006. It has been a good journey to know Shin Shin, undertand her mission, participate in the actions, and witness the impact of changing children's lives in the poor regions of China. Education is the foundation of any nation. We at Shin Shin work together to improve the education quality in remote areas in China, and bring a bright hope to those children who could only dream for a good future. It is indeed a rewarding experience to be a volunteer at Shin Shin.

I am working for it and it is a great organization. 100% of donation is used directly on Chinese poor children for their education needs. The Foundation, established since 1997, is a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to raise funds for underprivileged students in rural China, helping to renovate schools and to provide children a better learning environment to complete their primary education. From 1997 to 2010, in addition to build 325 schools, the Foundation has provided a number of educational initiatives to these schools with the overall objective to reduce the disparity in the quality of education between rural and metro areas in China.
