Mission Statement

The Digital Clubhouse Network (DCN) was founded in 1996 to promote tolerance, understanding, and responsible citizenship by bringing communities together to use technology to share experiences and learn from each other.

Description

Since then, the DCN has grown to become a bicoastal organization with locations in Sunnyvale, CA and New York City. Our work has been thrice recognized by the Smithsonian Institution for "visionary use of information technology to effect positive educational, political, and economic change in society" and has been featured frequently in the national news media. Our initiatives are youth-driven. We train local youth as producers, leaders and teachers for our community-building projects, providing them with a unique service learning opportunity. Through our Digitally Abled Producerà ?à ¢à ?à ?à ?à ?s Program (DAPP) and Executive Producers Program our students learn technology and multimedia production tools, develop time management, communication and leadership skills, and acquire a sense of civic responsibility. Our award-winning Digital Storytelling Projects represent an innovative way of helping build community. Our students and volunteers work with members of our community à ?à ¢à ?à ?à ?à ? seniors, to create Digital Stories (multimedia-enhanced oral histories).
