Mission Statement

The Animal Protective League is a non-profit 501C(3) organization dedicated to caring for ill, injured and abused homeless animals and coordinating the adoption of those animals by responsible pet owners. It further is committed to ending companion animal overpopulation by offering high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter services.

Description

APL is dedicated to ending the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals in our community and surrounding areas. In order to achieve this goal we operate a limited-admission shelter and a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic. APL's shelter gives priority to sick and injured animals and animals facing euthanasia in area county facilities. APL saves approximately 2,000 animals each year by housing them, providing medical treatment, vaccinations and adopting them into loving homes. In addition, our spay/neuter clinic performs over 13,000 surgeries each year and is a key component in reducing the number of unwanted litters that are born each year. Since opening in 2006 the number of animals being euthanized in our area has decreased by 68%!

Our volunteer program offers wonderful opportunities for the community to get involved and make a difference in the lives animals and members of the community. Our volunteer program provides a variety of opportunities including: shelter cleaning and animal care, dog walking, community outreach programs such as our paws to read program in schools and nursing home visits, taking animals to offsite locations for adoption events, fundraising opportunities, gardening and maintenance, fostering, laundry, office work, humane education and much much more!
