Mission Statement

Hospice is a philosophy of care. The hospice philosophy recognizes death as the final stages of life and seeks to enable patients to continue an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality, surrounded by their loved ones. Families facing a life-limiting illness have unique needs. At United Hospice, we understand those needs, which is why we've made a commitment to quality: quality of expertise, quality of care, quality of service and, most of all, quality of life. We are ready to provide the dignity, compassion and comfort that will give your family the fullest quality of life until the end.

Through United Hospice, both patient and family will find comfort, support, closure, personal and spiritual peace, self-respect and respect for the fullness of life.

Description

Our volunteers offer terminally ill patients and their families comfort, support, and companionship during a patient's most challenging days, weeks and months. Our volunteers report they are motivated by a desire to give something back, but soon find that the spiritual and emotional rewards they receive far outweigh the time and caring they contribute.

Volunteers simply need a caring heart and a willingness to serve. Our extensive volunteer training program provides an awareness of patients' needs and prepares them to participate fully with the hospice team in the way that suites them best.
