Mission Statement

Create a sense of place through regional native plants, ecological restoration, conservation biodiversity, and open space preservation.

Description

Wild Ones: Native Plants, Natural Landscapes is the only national not-for-profit educational organization of its kind in the United States. Our mission, which is shared by over 3,000 members in the U.S. and Canada, is to promote environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities.

Since Wild Ones’ philosophy is based on the use of local ecotype species within the local ecosystem, our educational goals are provided locally through a chapter structure. Our Chapter goal is to create in Niagara Falls, NY and the Niagara River Region a sense of place through grassroots partnerships, advocacy, and education about regional native plants and natural landscaping with a focus on the restoration, preservation, and protection of the botanically unique ecosystems of Niagara Falls, the Niagara River Greenway, the Niagara River, and the Niagara gorge and gorge rim.
