Mission Statement

The Children's Museum of the Ohio Valley promotes and stimulates the intellectual and creative potential of children by being a catalyst for the process of learning through hands on play.

Description

On the corner of 10th and Main Street in Wheeling, there is a small, but spirited place for kids. You will see children interacting with parents, grandparents, and each other. They are learning through hands-on play with puppets, blocks, costumes, glue, and more. You can see imaginations taking flight. We invite you to come visit us. Let the children take the lead, and give us, the adults, a glimpse of the curiosity and creativity rampant in a child's mind.

The museum currently hosts almost 100 family memberships with 200 - 300 visitors per month. This does not include birthday party guests, which can total up to 60 additional children each weekend.

While the museum charges admission, this does not begin to cover the costs incurred for staffing, rent, utilities, and insurance. The Board of Directors plans and executes fundraisers, grant applications, and special events throughout the year, but we rely heavily on donations and sponsorships in order to continue our mission of serving the children of the Ohio Valley as we have for the past six years. Your support is critical.
