Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.

Our Mission We aim to help bring about and support authentic and coherent development practice amongst young people, organizations and institutions working towards those forms of Social transformation and rural development that most benefit the poor and marginalized. We do this through organizational interventions, training, accompanied learning and collaborative explorations. Out of active reflection on our experience, and through writing and disseminating, we share our insights and lessons gained, seeking to impact on wider development thinking and processes. Our work strives towards a just and civil society; societies in which more people have access to resources and power over choices.

The establishment of the Center for Social and Rural Development, Inc
The establishment of the CSRD indicates an intention to share the work of CSRD more widely, to attempt to disseminate and promote its approach to the benefit of a wider group of people - both practitioners and organizations.
By forming ourselves into a Center for Social and Rural Development we are bringing to the communities a resource to help rural people and communities develop their practice, nurturing in them a developmental, and therefore transformational, way of understanding the world and intervening in it.
