St. Vincent Home for Children

Description

St. Vincent Home for Children provides three core programs, all with a professional therapeutic focus on strengthening social, behavioral, and decision-making skills.

• A residential treatment program that served approximately 85 children and families in 2007. Following treatment, and with improved impulse control, problem-solving skills, and independent living skills, 76% of the youth were returned to a less restrictive environment.

• An emergency shelter program that has served more than 120 youth and families in the past two years. Through stabilization and follow-up family support, 95% of the youth and families remained intact and 94% of the youth attained 90% school attendance.

• A special education school that served 121 students who had been removed from their community classrooms in 2007, with a goal of preparing them to achieve successful outcomes in a more traditional setting.
