The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. Focus on raising awareness, provide intervention/prevention skills. produce positive behaviors and develop skills to empower youth for success
Financial Awareness Educate in writing checks, balancing a checkbook and other information pertaining to finances. Abstinence Youth are educated in abstaining from drugs/alcohol/tobacco, sex and violence.
Activities of Daily Living Instruction in basic sewing, proper hygiene and preparing economical meals
Mentoring/Tutoring We offer one-on-one and group mentoring and math tutoring
Entrepreneur/Employment Training Complete employment applications, mock interviews and appropriate dress & speech techniques.
Nutritional Awareness Educate in the importance ofeating healthy and exercising. We provide a meal, snack and drink. The facility is equipped with a exercise room basketball and footballs for the boys. We include outdoor activities. Prevention: Bullying, gangs, gun violence and STD's.
Community Service: We offer community service hours for youth for school projects as well as hours that are mandated by judicial entities.
Completing the Program: Each youth receives a certificate of completion
All mentors and volunteers: are cleared through ChildlLine Abuse through the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare. In addition, the criminal background is verified.
