Mission Statement

College Forward provides college access and college persistence services to motivated, economically disadvantaged students, in order to facilitate their transition to college and make the process exciting and rewarding. We believe access to higher education is the right of every young Texan.

We accomplish this by providing:

  • Orientation to the college experience
  • Preparation for college entrance examinations
  • Assistance with college applications
  • Assistance securing financial aid
  • College persistence support

Description

College Forward believes that a college degree bridges the chasm between poverty and prosperity - nothing is more transformational for an individual, a family, or society than the attainment of a bachelor's degree, especially in families without prior experience with higher education. Through College Forward's innovative college access, college persistence, and parent education programs, thought leadership, and pro-student advocacy, our mission is to ensure that every young Texan has the opportunity to earn a life-changing college degree.

After serving the Greater Austin Area for the past seven years and now serving 1,242 students at 12 high schools in seven school districts across Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties, and 730 students at 75+ colleges across Texas and the nation, College Forward is bringing its award-winning program to the Greater Houston Area with an initial focus on schools in the Goose Creek and Aldine School Districts.
