Mission Statement

Our motto is a very simple one, "WE SERVE". Since 1978 this local chapter of Lions International has helped service the needs of our local community in various ways. Not only individuals, but other community organizations as well.

Our primary focus is the preservation of sight. This year, 2010, our small club has currently screened 354 pre-K and kindergarten students from 2 schools for preliminary vision problems. Of that 354 children we identified 46% who are in need of further examination and/or eyeglasses to correct their vision. Without proper vision these children will not the the full benefit of their early education! We still have five more schools to screen which will begin after the first of the year when school resumes.

Our club will help these children who have a financial need to get their full examination and the glasses when necessary. We are expanding this program every year and will begin a new program for senior citizens in need.

Additionally, we provide the following support and programs:

  • High School Scholarships
  • Sponsrship of Handi-Capable children to special needs Summer Camp at no cost to their families.
  • Drug Awareness Programs in the schools
  • Health Fair for the community
  • Support of the Food Bank in both cash donations as well as monthly food donations and volunteer service
  • Box 620
  • Friends of the Library

We currently have several fundraisers that we sponsor to raise funds for our programs. The next one is our annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa on December 11, 2010 at Lakeside Junior High Cafeteria, 400 Lobo Lane from 8 am to 12 pm.

Our major fundraiser will be our Annual Bike Ride, held in October. As it grows we will be able to further support our current and future projects more readily!

We meet twice a month. The 2nd and 4th Tuesday nights at 7 pm at Los Jalapenos on El Dorado Dr. in Little Elm Come join us for dinner and see what we are about.

If you are as busy as everyone else these days, our club allows you to maximize your time by focusing with one organization that serves MANY!
