Our mission is to strengthen families and promote the well-being of children through parent education and support.
Birth To Three was started in 1978 by three local mothers who recognized a need for community support of families with young children. Since then, the organization has grown to a nationally recognized status providing programs, services, and a research-based curriculum. Locally, more than 1,000 families per year participate in parenting groups alone. An additional 6,000 utilize the services described below. We provide programs and services for Lane County families with young children. Our nationally-recognized curriculum is used throughout the nation and in several foreign countries. All our programs and services are designed to promote positive parenting skills and educate families about child development. Our programs and services include: a Telephone Warmline that allows callers to speak with a parent educator about parenting and/or child development issues; parenting groups for families with infants, one-year-olds, and two-year-olds; parenting groups for families whose first language is Spanish; Teen Parent groups; Single Parent groups; and groups for families experiencing high levels of stress ("Make Parenting A Pleasure" groups.) All groups include a Children's Program. Birth To Three also offers: Parenting Newsletter; a family resource center; library; "Parents Again" groups for families with infants and older children; "Parent/Child Adventures" to allow parents to play and learn along with their children; Healthy Start and Welcome baby home visiting services; and special events such as infant CPR classes.
