Mission Statement

Urban Neighborhood Services seeks to enhance the quality of life of urban residents and community
members by offering an array of supportive services that build on the strengths of individuals, families,
and groups, with whom we partner to help achieve their goals. We also seek to conduct research on issues
affecting urban communities, to disseminate our findings to local and national audiences, and to
participate in the public dialogue about how to rebuild and strengthen America's inner cities. UNS raises
awareness on important social issues such a the unmet needs of LGBTQ youth and veterans.

Description

Welcome to Urban Neighborhood
Services, Inc. (UNS). We are a
grass-roots 501(c)(3) not-for-profit
community-based organization offering
a spectrum of supportive programming
and services to various age groups in
our community of Coney Island, Brooklyn,
as well as surrounding neighborhoods in
Southern Brooklyn. Our programs are
available to and utilized by residents
of all five boroughs throughout New York
City.

Urban Neighborhood Services is part
of the national grass-roots effort to
rebuild and stregthen America's
inner-cities. We are dedicated to
improving the social conditions in our
neighborhood and to exchanging
thoughtful analysis with stakeholders
from various urban communities about
what can be done to improve the quality
of life of urban residents in the 21st
century.
