Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity is a global, nonprofit organization that has a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works towards that vision by building strength, stability, and self-reliance through partnerships with the individuals and families that we serve along with the community at large. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Volusia County (HFH of GVC) has served the local community since 1986. 186 families, including more than 400 children, have taken the opportunity of affordable homeownership and made it a reality.
Description
Habitat for Humanity of GVC has many local partners who support our goals of providing affordable homeownership opportunities. Currently, we have two homes under construction and two more in the permitting process. Families and individuals who qualify, contribute "sweat equity" hours towards the completion of their home and others. When the house is complete, HFH of GVC sells the home at no profit and provides a zero-interest mortgage. All mortgage payments build equity for the homeowner and provide funds to HFH of GVC in support of the next house built. m
