Volunteers visit with patients as you play card, look at pictures, listen favorite music or listen to old stories. Also, Volunteers at times meet with families members or caregivers providing support, friendship and companionship. Maybe a cup of coffee, talk on current events, chat and visit. As a volunteer for Kindred, you can make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. After completing our special training, you will visit our patients in facilities or in their homes, providing support and joy. Volunteering for hospice can be a fun, rewarding, and life changing experience. You will soon find that you receive a lot more than you give. The locations and times you volunteer are flexible according to your schedule and interests! Visits are available throughout Racine, Kenosha & Walworth, just let us know.

Do you have a special four-legged friend? We are looking for volunteers to bring that special friend to a patient's home and provide hospice patients with that special companionship they often miss. After completing our hospice volunteer training course, you will visit patients in their homes (be that a skilled nursing facility or a free standing house) with your pet, providing companionship and friendly visits. Pet therapy handler/dog teams are assigned to visit patients that live in their neighborhood so the burden of travel is minimal. In most situations, visiting hours are flexible and you will be able to visit patients on your schedule, when it is most convenient for you. Visitor volunteers do NOT perform any medical or personal cares and do not transfer patients, administer any medicines, take patients to the bathroom, etc. Your job is just to visit as a friendly neighbor would! Animals must be Pet Therapy Certified in order to qualify for this opportunity.
